Lighter × Robinhood: How the Integration Works, Robinhood Chain, USDG, Revenue Split and the LIT Tokenomics Overhaul (2026)

In July 2026 Lighter perps went live inside Robinhood Wallet on Robinhood Chain, with USDG collateral, a 50/50 revenue split and $11M of LIT incentives. The same month Lighter switched LIT to buyback-and-burn. Here is what changed, what it means for volume, and what is still unknown.

Lighter and Robinhood integration facts: launched July 2026, USDG collateral, 50/50 revenue split, 12 to 17 percent of Lighter daily volume
Integration facts. Data as of September 2026, compiled by Lighter DEX Perp.

In July 2026, Lighter and Robinhood announced that Lighter perpetuals are available inside Robinhood Wallet, running on a dedicated Lighter deployment on Robinhood Chain (an Arbitrum-based Layer 2) with USDG as collateral. Revenue from that deployment is split 50/50 between Lighter and Robinhood, and Lighter committed $11 million of LIT to Robinhood community incentives. Within two months the integration had generated about $7.3 billion of perp volume and by September it supplied 12–17% of Lighter's daily volume. The same month, LIT tokenomics changed: the buyback program switched from hold to burn, destroying 15.5 million LIT immediately. Below you get what was announced, what it looks like when you trade from Robinhood Wallet, and why it mattered for the token. Verified September 2026.

The background: Robinhood Ventures and Vlad Tenev

Robinhood was not a surprise partner. Robinhood Ventures participated in Lighter's $68 million round in November 2025, and Robinhood co-founder and CEO Vlad Tenev has advised Lighter's founder Vladimir Novakovski. (Coverage of the round by The Block's Yogita Khatri and others noted the Robinhood connection early; search interest in "lighter dex Avan Nomayo the block" reflects his Block stories on the perp DEX sector.) Robinhood itself had been building Robinhood Chain on Arbitrum's stack to host tokenized stocks and, eventually, derivatives for its non-US users.

What the integration actually is

There are now two Lighter deployments:

Lighter (main)Lighter on Robinhood Chain
ChainzkLighter ZK rollup, settles to EthereumRobinhood Chain (Arbitrum L2)
CollateralUSDC (plus ETH, XAUT at 70% LTV)USDG (plus SPY, USO trackers at 50% LTV)
Accessapp.lighter.xyz, Lighter MobileRobinhood Wallet app
Fees0% standard0% maker/taker
Order booksSeparateSeparate
PointsSeason 2Separate Robinhood Chain points, from Aug 10, 2026
RevenueLighterSplit 50/50 with Robinhood

The Robinhood deployment uses the same matching-engine design and ZK circuits, but it is a distinct rollup with its own state, so liquidity is not shared. For a Robinhood Wallet user, Lighter perps appear as a native feature: fund with USDG (Robinhood's Paxos-issued stablecoin, which also earns roughly 7% APY in Robinhood Earn), pick a market, trade at zero fees. Users never leave the Robinhood app and never see a wallet-signature flow.

US Robinhood customers are not eligible; the integration targets Robinhood's international wallet users, consistent with the Lighter DEX restricted countries policy.

Why it matters for Lighter's volume

Lighter's volume fell roughly 80% from the December 2025 peak once points farming cooled. The Robinhood channel brought a different kind of flow: retail, less incentive-driven, and stickier. By September 2026, Robinhood order flow was 17% of Lighter's daily volume and 12% on a 30-day basis, at a time when perp DEX volume across the sector had fallen 30% in a week. That diversification is the strongest argument that Lighter's volume is no longer purely a points phenomenon. Data: Lighter DEX analytics.

The July 2026 LIT tokenomics overhaul

Announced alongside the integration:

LIT burn compared with staking emissions: 15.5 million LIT burned in July 2026 versus about 7.5 million LIT distributed to stakers per year
Size of the first LIT burn relative to annual staking rewards
  1. Buyback-and-burn replaces buyback-and-hold. LIT bought with trading revenue via daily TWAP is now burned. The roughly 15.5 million LIT accumulated since TGE were burned at once, about 6.3% of circulating supply.
  2. Staking yield reframed. The 6% APR target on staked LIT (about 7.5 million LIT a year on ~125 million staked) is being shifted from company-funded emissions toward transfers from premium fee revenue and fee-credit proceeds, so that staking rewards are increasingly paid by users of the exchange rather than by the treasury.
  3. Ecosystem reserve confirmed at 250 million LIT (25% of supply) for future seasons and partnerships, of which $11 million worth goes to Robinhood community incentives.
  4. Robinhood revenue share flows into the same buyback pool, so Robinhood-driven volume feeds LIT burns.

What it means for LIT holders and points farmers

  • Holders: the burn is real but modest relative to the 500 million team and investor tokens that begin unlocking in December 2026. The structural change, revenue-linked burns funded partly by Robinhood flow, matters more than the one-time 15.5 million figure.
  • Points farmers: trading inside Robinhood Wallet earns Robinhood Chain points, a separate program effective August 10, 2026, not Season 2 points. If you are farming Season 2, stay on the main deployment. See Lighter perp DEX airdrop.
  • LLP depositors: the Robinhood deployment has its own liquidity backstop; main-chain LLP is unaffected.

What is still unknown

  • Whether Robinhood will bring Lighter perps to US customers if Lighter obtains CFTC registration. Lighter's founder sits on the CFTC's Innovation Advisory Committee, which held its first meeting on August 20, 2026, and Lighter has said it is pursuing a compliant US path; nothing has been filed publicly as of September 2026.
  • Whether liquidity between the two deployments will ever be bridged or shared.
  • The exact revenue-share cadence and how much of it reaches the buyback pool.
  • Whether Robinhood's tokenized-stock markets on Robinhood Chain will become collateral or underlyings for Lighter perps beyond the current SPY and USO trackers.

Frequently asked questions

Is Lighter on Robinhood? Yes. Lighter perps are available inside Robinhood Wallet via a Lighter deployment on Robinhood Chain, for non-US users.

Can I use my Lighter account in Robinhood Wallet? No. The Robinhood Chain deployment is separate, with USDG collateral and its own accounts.

What is USDG? Robinhood's USD stablecoin, issued by Paxos under the Global Dollar Network. It is the base collateral on Lighter's Robinhood Chain deployment.

Did Lighter burn LIT because of Robinhood? The burn and the integration were announced together as part of one tokenomics update. Robinhood revenue share feeds future burns.

Is Lighter available to US Robinhood users? No. Lighter blocks US users on all deployments.
