LIT allocation. Data as of September 2026, compiled by Lighter DEX Perp.

Yes, Lighter perp DEX has a token. LIT is the native token of the Lighter perp exchange. It launched on December 30, 2025 with a fixed supply of 1 billion, no inflation, and an airdrop of 25% of supply to points participants. As of late September 2026 LIT trades around $4–5, roughly double where it started the month, for a market cap in the low single-digit billions on about 246 million circulating tokens. Below you get what holding LIT does for you (fee discounts, LLP access, 6% staking APR), how the supply is split, how the buyback-and-burn model changed in July 2026, and where to buy it. Price figures are a dated snapshot; check CoinMarketCap or CoinGecko for the live number.

What is the LIT token used for?

LIT is deliberately positioned as an infrastructure and access token rather than a governance token. The docs describe it as providing "access, incentives, and alignment across the Lighter ecosystem." Its three concrete utilities are:

1. Staking unlocks LLP vault capacity

The Lighter Liquidity Pool (LLP) is the exchange's market-making and insurance vault. Depositing USDC into LLP is gated: for every 1 LIT staked, you may deposit up to 10 USDC into the pool. Want to put $100,000 into LLP? Stake 10,000 LIT first. This ties vault demand directly to token demand. Details on LLP yields and risks: Lighter DEX yield.

2. Premium fee discounts

Premium accounts pay 0.0040% maker / 0.0280% taker. Staking LIT cuts that by 2.5% (1,000 LIT), 10% (10,000), 20% (100,000) or 30% (500,000+), and lowers taker latency from 200 ms to 140 ms at the top tier. Staking 100+ LIT also waives withdrawal and transfer fees. Standard accounts already pay 0%, so this utility is aimed at market makers. See the Lighter DEX premium fee tiers.

LIT staking fee discount tiers: 2.5 percent at 1,000 LIT, 10 percent at 10,000 LIT, 20 percent at 100,000 LIT, 30 percent at 500,000 LIT

3. Staking rewards

Stakers receive a fixed 6% APR in LIT, plus a stream of the proceeds from the LIT Fee Credits program, in which premium traders pay upfront for temporary tier credits instead of staking. With around 125 million LIT staked in mid-2026, the 6% target implies roughly 7.5 million LIT of annual distribution, which the July 2026 burn (15.5 million) more than offset.

Buybacks and the July 2026 tokenomics overhaul

From TGE, Lighter has used trading-fee revenue to buy LIT on the open market via daily 24-hour TWAP orders, with discretion to use shorter windows in volatile markets. Cumulative buybacks reached about $17.9 million by the end of Q1 2026, of which $14.6 million came in Q1 alone.

In July 2026, alongside the Robinhood integration, Lighter changed the model from buyback-and-hold to buyback-and-burn. The tokens accumulated up to that point, roughly 15.5 million LIT, were permanently destroyed, cutting circulating supply by about 6.3%. Going forward, tokens bought with protocol revenue are burned rather than held in the treasury, and staking rewards are being shifted from company-funded emissions toward transfers from premium fee revenue. Our Lighter Robinhood integration guide has the full timeline.

Is the burn as significant as the headline suggests? 6.3% of circulating supply is meaningful, but it is 1.55% of total supply, and the 500 million team and investor tokens still unlock from December 2026. Treat the burn as a change in policy direction, not a supply shock.

At $4.50 and 246 million circulating, market cap is about $1.1 billion with a fully diluted valuation near $4.5 billion. The 4x gap between market cap and FDV is the unlock overhang. LIT is listed on CoinMarketCap and CoinGecko under "Lighter" with ticker LIT; note that CoinGecko also has a separate exchange page for Lighter's trading venue statistics.

Where and how to buy LIT

Listing dates (Binance pre-market December 23, 2025; OKX December 24; TGE December 30) are in the Lighter DEX launch date and history.

  • Centralized exchanges: LIT listed on major CEXs at TGE including MEXC (which ran the launchpad), Bybit, Bitget, KuCoin and others. Check CoinMarketCap's markets tab for current pairs.
  • On Lighter itself: LIT-PERP is a perpetual market on Lighter with leverage. Lighter also lists a small number of spot pairs; check whether LIT spot is available in the app before assuming.
  • Ethereum DEXs: LIT is an ERC-20 on Ethereum mainnet and can be swapped on Uniswap. Verify the contract address from lighter.xyz or the docs before swapping; copycat tokens exist.
  • Regulated wrapper: Since September 23, 2026, the Bitwise Lighter Staking ETP trades on Deutsche Börse Xetra, holding roughly 1 million LIT, for European investors who want exchange-traded exposure.

A perp position in LIT-PERP is not the same as owning LIT. Perps do not earn staking rewards, do not unlock LLP capacity and carry funding costs.

How to stake LIT

  1. Hold LIT on Ethereum mainnet in the wallet connected to Lighter.
  2. In app.lighter.xyz, open the Staking page and stake the amount you want. The stake is tied to your L1 address, so it counts for all sub-accounts.
  3. Rewards accrue continuously at the 6% target plus fee-credit proceeds.
  4. Unstaking triggers a 3-day lockup before tokens are withdrawable.

Staking does not put your LIT at risk of liquidation; it is separate from trading margin. It is, however, exposed to LIT price risk like any holding.

Does Lighter DEX have a token? Yes. LIT launched December 30, 2025 with a 1 billion fixed supply.

What is the Lighter DEX coin price? Around $4–5 in late September 2026, up from about $1 in mid-2026 and below the $7.86 all-time high. Check a live tracker before trading.

How do I get Lighter DEX tokens? Buy on a centralized exchange, swap on Uniswap, or earn points in the ongoing Season 2 program, which may convert to LIT in a future distribution.

Is there a LIT airdrop still coming? 25% of supply is reserved for ecosystem incentives and Season 2 continues, but Lighter has not announced a second airdrop or a points-to-LIT ratio. See Lighter DEX points price and airdrop outlook.

What is LIT's contract address? Get it from lighter.xyz or docs.lighter.xyz. We do not reproduce contract addresses because they are frequently spoofed.
